Three Unpleasant Things

Because it ain’t sunshine and lollipops all the time…

  1. I went to the bathroom of the apartment I share with my roommate this morning, to find that one of her cats had passed solid waste (the polite term on the websites I’ve read is “eliminated”) in the bathtub. This has been happening with fair regularity for the past couple months. We haven’t been able to figure out what the cat’s issue with the box is, and it always seems to be in the morning right when I want my shower.
  2. I was on the 16 Arbutus heading west on Hastings, zoning out about the not-good-start to the day. As we pulled past Carrall, we stopped at a red light, and a transit supervisor vehicle was next to the bus. The driver shouted to the transit supervisor, “I hate to do this to you, but this lady left shit on the seat, right up front here. Think you could clean it up?” When I got off the bus at the next stop past Cambie, two guys were climbing out of the transit supervisor vehicle, with a bottle of ammonia and paper towels.
  3. Michel Gondry is a genius. A hilarious, off-beat, weird genius. He put out a DVD in the Director’s File series a few years back which served as a collection of his visually eyebrow-raising music videos, short films, and assorted snippets from his feature film work (namely, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). He has this one short called One Day… in which he goes to the bathroom and his turd gets up, follows him out of the toilet and starts making a general muck of his life in New York because, as the turd says, he doesn’t “acknowledge [me] anymore.” The next day gets worse. The clip is on YouTube.
