A TransitCamp, please! In Vancouver!

Will and I held a session at the MooseCamp portion of the Northern Voice blogging conference (which is happening tomorrow) in order to brainstorm the possibility of a Transit Camp in Vancouver. It was excellent! We got some great support from the crowd that attended and started musing about what a Vancouver Transit Camp could look like. Will and I sketched out some ideas on the Vancouver Transit Camp session page, which is currently serving as the “mailing list” for the Transit Camp event until we get a wiki set up.

The TorCamp chatswarm on Skype (and Mark Kuznicki in particular) has been quite generous with their suggestions on what and how to focus on in organizing a Transit Camp. Though someone might have nominated me as an organizer out of the corner of their mouth at the session, I think I’ll take Jay and the other organizers’ suggestion to heart, which is that it really should be a bit of a headless organization, with just enough hierarchy to make things happen, but really being an event for the community, by the community.

Looking forward to getting to know the community – aye, that’s the rub. Kinda hard to do in Toronto, but who knows? All I hope is that I’ll be in town for it!
