Last night was not just any [tag]Kickass Karaoke at the Rivoli[/tag] – it was Lilly’s going away and birthday party as she gets ready to leave us in the cold North for California, just like Rufus Wainwright did! (Before he went and fell in love with New York, that is)
Great fun and more booze was had by all. I’ve been living the life of the photographically lazy, but some highlights offhand include:
- Wendy‘s song…which I’ve completely forgotten now because of Joey’s backup dancing (I’m anxiously awaiting pictures once the hangovers wear down) ^_^
- Freedom 92 and She Blinded Me With Science were rendered on accordion with the trademark gusto of Accordion Guy Joey Devilla
- Maria’s Manic Monday
- Eldon’s impressive Caribana-appropriate offering of Sean Paul’s Shake That Thing
- Sacha Chua cheerily advises Lilly to Always Look on the Bright Side of Life – a trip to Spam-a-lot is definitely in order after that.
- Jed Smith gave us Tribute in the style of Tenacious D
- Lilly did too many songs (and drinks) to number, but I definitely remember ‘Cause I’m a Blond
Myself, I started off the evening with Green Day’s Time of Your Life (Good Riddance) (straight from the soundtrack of my high school video – I hope I still have that somewhere in all my boxes), then Sacha jumped up with me during Vonda Shepard’s Searching My Soul, the theme song from Ally McBeal.
After that, along with 2 days of Emergency CPR and Standard First Aid training, I was wiped, so I didn’t get a chance to wish a Bon Voyage to our PostModern Sass or to be more coherent in thanking Wendy for organizing such an exshellent evening!
Will this have any of a bearing on my own birthday plans? Well, it’s only a month away…
